Getting error code "0x800423f3" or "0x80004005" when you use System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 to protect an Exchange storage group

If you are getting error code "0x800423f3" or "0x80004005" when you use System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 to protect an Exchange storage group then you are in big trouble. The process to fix error code 0x800423f3 is given in this article. You may receive the “Recovery point creation jobs for Storage group First Storage Group on servername.domainname.com have been failing. The number of failed recovery point creation jobs = 1. If the datasource protected is SharePoint, then click on the Error Details to view the list of databases for which recovery point creation failed. (ID 3114) DPM encountered a retryable VSS error. (ID 30112 Details: Unknown error (0x800423f3) (0x800423F3))” error message when you click on the alerts tab in the data protection manager 2007. You may also receive the following error message in data protection manager 2007.

The replica of Storage group First Storage Group on servername.domainname.com is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent (ID 3106) DPM has detected a discontinuity in the log chain for Storage group First Storage Group on servername.domainname.com since the last synchronization. (ID 30216 Details: Unspecified error (0x80004005))


Causes of the error code 0x80004005 or 0x800423f3

When the circular logging is enabled to the exchange storage group then you may receive the error code 0x800423f3 or 0x80004005. You may also receive this error when the backup software in outside data protection manager was using for backup the exchange storage group of the backup application was configured for complete a full backup.





Process to fix error code 0x800423f3 or 0x80004005


If you want to fix this issue then first of all open Data Protection Manager Administrator Console. And then you have to click on protection tab. Now right click on Exchange storage group in which Recovery point creation failed protection status is available.  After that click on the Create recovery point – Disk. Now click on Create a recovery point by using express full backup that is available in the Create recovery point and now click on ok. After applying these steps I fix my pc and remove error code 0x800423f3 or 0x80004005 in my computer.
